The rays of the morning sun splashed the ground with a soft golden hue, dappling the ground in shadows from the trees. The rays were slashed as a shape sliced through them. The shape was a WaterClan warrior, her deep calico fur sleek in the sunlight. Her name, Butterflyheart. The deep blue eyes of the calico scanned the camp, opening in amazement at the hustle and bustle going on on a lovely leaf-bare day like this. Butterlfyheart wasn't raised in the clans, so it took a little getting used to. But Butterflyheart was now contented, for she now had a purpose in life. She wasn't just surviving, she was thriving and working hard for something. A purr of contentment escaped Butterflyheart's throat as she settled down on the soft, sun-warmed ground. Though it was leaf-bare, the suns hone through the clouds onto WaterClan's camp. She splayed her back legs out, and rested her head on her paws. Her purr depend as she watched her kits scuffling about. "Honeykit! Be nice with you sister!" she scolded, though a purr of amusement rumbled deep within her chest.
When she was a kit she had to teach herself and learn survival skills, and she had no time for play. Her thoughts drifted to what her kithood might've looked like had she been born in a clan, but she shook her head. This was her reality and even if she hadn't been here as a kit, she was here now. And she was happy. At least, in some aspects of her life. Butterflyheart's mother had once told her stories of her father. Of love and loyalty. A deep sadness overtook Butterflyheart's heart as she realized she might never have those things. Love of her clanmates was nice, but the individual love her father had for her mother was special. Butterflyheart knew it was so, and deep down she yearned for it, hungered for it. But it hadn't happened, and she wasn't sure if it ever would. Sure she had kits, lovely little kits, but their father had left. He had left without a thought once he knew she was pregnant. He didn't care for her the way she thought he did. He never had loved her. A noise interrupted Butterflyheart's thoughts and she looked up at the sound of pawsteps coming her way.

The noise of the camp echoed in the warrior's den and woke a golden brown tom in the middle of a nap. His bright grass green eyes opened wide and blinked twice, getting used to the vast amount of sunlight streaming through the entrance to the warriors den. When, finally, his vison was accustom to the morning light, he got to his paws, large though they were, and gracefully made his way into the center of the camp.
He looked around. The cats he laid eyes on were faceless, and he did not care to know their names at the moment. He was searching for one cat in particular. One beautiful, non-Clanborn she-cat with three lovely kits who were (sadly) not his own.
He spotted her calico pelt, glowing in the sunshine of the lovely leafbare day. His heart did a backflip and he had to force himself not to sprint to her. I'm such a mouse brain! But he couldn't help it. The crush he had on her was so gigantic, it was hard to contain.
Trying to maintain a tranquil state, he began to wander over to where she lay. Her kits were in play and Hazleclaw heard her shout, "Honeykit! Be nice with your sister!" The small, pretty little calico she-cat and her sister, Leafkit, who looked like her mother, were playfighting.
"Kits will be kits," was Hazleclaw's greeting. He let a chuckle escape his throat. He couldn't hardly look at Butterflyheart, for thought that his own heart would burst from his chest, yet he couldn't look away either. "Good morning, Butterflyheart." He hoped, desperatly, that he was playing it cool.

Butterflyheart recognized the tom immediately. She dipped her head, blinking her deep blue eyes. "Good morning Hazelclaw." she said calmly. The sun gleamed, making her pelt dazzle. She watched her kits lovingly, a deep purr rising in her as she watched them tussle and romp. She was just about to say something else when a small movement caught her eye. "Oh no! Leafkit don't!" she mewed, startled. ------------------------------- [Leafkit] Leafkit was crouched, her small tail swishing across the ground. Her stealth was surprising for her age. With a cry, she leaped at Hazelclaw, pretending to snarl fiercely. Play was her only intention. She just wanted to have fun! But her aim was off, and she landed a few inches shy of the mighty warrior's left side with an OOF! The wind was knocked out of her. She coughed , struggling into a sitting position. Embarrassment took her over, and she lay her ears flat against her head. "You moved." she accused the warrior, even though he hadn't budged. Leafkit's blue eyes look up to her mother. -------------------------- [Butterflyheart] Butterflyheart was shocked. Her kit just pretended to attack a grown warrior! Butterflyheart knew Leafkit was courageous, but still. "Leafkit!" She scolded. She got up and trotted swiftly to her kits side. "You know better than that!" She turned her refined face to Hazelclaw, apology deep in her eyes. "I'm so sorry. She should know better." she said softly. "Come on, Leafkit. Go play with something your own size." Butterflyheart ushered the tiny kit, practically her miniature, towards her siblings. [sorry its short. I have tons of homework from break. Projects. Ughh]

"Goodmorning Hazleclaw." Her voice like velvet, Butterflyheart greeted the insanely (insanly?) nervous tom. Before Hazleclaw could make a comment on the weather or tell her how nice she looked this fine morning, her voice erupted into a shout, "Oh no! Leafkit don't!"
Hazleclaw began to turn, to see what trouble the mischivious kit had gotten into now, but a bundle of brown fur tumbled through the air and landed next to his paw. As she let out a cough and pulled herself into a sitting positon, Leafkit said, "You moved." It was a simple accusation, and with everything that was going on, Hazleclaw simply chuckled. While Butterflyheart was scolding her naughty kit, whispering apologies to Hazleclaw, the golden brown warrior leaned down to lick the small she-cat on her head. "Good jump anyway." He whispered.
He turned to the fretful, probably embarrassed mother, and started to reject the apologies. "No, no, it's okay." He tried to tell her. "She missed me anyway, no harm done." His heart was pumping so loud, he could hardly hear what he was saying anyway.

Butterflyheart turned to Hazelclaw, relief deep in her dark blue eyes. "Alright, so long as she didn't hurt you." She said. Her dainty head turned towards her kits. "Why don't you go back inside the nursery now. Play time is long since over little ones." She purred, nuzzling each kit. Her heart swelled at the touch of her babies soft fur, and warm little heads as they brushed her chin. When her daughter, Leafkit, hesitated, a gleam of amusement caught Butterflyheart's gaze. "What seems to be the problem, Leafkit? Aren't you tired?" She trotted slowly to her kit's side, sweeping her large, feathery tail around to envelope her kit's tiny body in its warmth.
[Leafkit]
Leafkit looked up at her mother with bright, but sleepy, blue eyes. "Mommy, I want to stay here with you." her tiny voice was pleading. "Can't I mommy? Can't I stay here?" part of her really wanted to sleep with her mom, but a small portion was just curious about Hazelclaw. Leafkit hadn't missed how Hazelclaw's eyes filled with a strange adoration every time they settled on Mommy's soft pelt. She wasn't suspicious or concerned, just genuinely curious.
[Butterflyheart]
"Oh, of course you can!" she purred. She picked her little one up by her scruff and settled over where she had been earlier, tucking Leafkit into her side. Leafkit snuggled up against the warmest spot of Butterflyheart's belly, digging her nose deep into the warm, soft fur. Butterflyheart swept her tail around to engulf her baby in feathery warmth. "Sleep now." she cooed. When the little one's eyes closed, and her breathing became that of deep sleep, Butterflyheart turned her gaze onto Hazelclaw. "Fine morning isn't it?" She meowed conversationally.

"Can't I, Mommy?" said little Leafkit, "Can't I stay here."
Hazleclaw had missed most of the conversation, too absorved in Butterflyheart's beautiful pelt every time he caught a glance, but now, he realized, as the kits retreated into the den, that Leafkit must want to stay outside, with the grown cats. Her stance and eyes were curious.
Butterflyheart let her stay, like the wonderful, caring she-cat she was. How did a cat get so beautiful, so sweet. So genuinly compassionate it hurt to be around them. How?
Hazleclaw wished he could be as perfect. As breath-takingly attractive and heart-stoppingly sweet. It was so amazing. No wonder he felt like his heart was on fire.
A rush of anger almost swept him off his paws. How could the father of these precious kits, and the mate of the most beautiful she-cat in the world just leave them? How? Commitmentphobia. He thought. It wasn't that common. Not in cats at least. You could easily see it in dogs, even without speaking their language. That's why the she-dogs were always mad at the males.
"Fine morning, isn't it. Her velvet soft voice floated through the air and wound around Hazleclaw's ears. How....no, why... was he felling this way? And why..... no, how.... was it not possible that no other toms were standing over here, druling stupidly and trying to think up a smooth thing to say?
"The most beautiful morning I've seen in a long time." He answered, looking at the clear, beautiful blue sky. He settled himself to the ground and smiled at her, trying to be dazzling, and gave the now sleeping Leafkit a gentle look. "What absolutely beautiful kits you were blessed with. " He said, his voice gentle and soft.
